Training model:

The training is intended for everyone in the children and family's workforce and clinicians who work with families with young children. The motivational interviewing informed skills taught are relevant for any practitioner who work in health, social care and the third sector who work with young children and their families.

The training is interactive and experiential. Trainees are encouraged to practice the skills they have learned on the training day and implement them in their work with families.

The training is delivered by Trainers who have attended the Connecting with Parents’ Motivations training day and who have also attended an additional “Train the Trainer” delivered by Psychology of Parenting Project (PoPP) in NES alongside a qualification that includes child development and who have experience working with parents. Trainers are offered top up sessions to enhance their training skills and support to deliver the training. Trainers are provided with the materials needed to deliver the training, such as iPads containing training slides and videos, training materials for the day and training manuals containing evaluation forms and handouts.

Implementation support is provided to localities which include staff selection for training, data collection and evaluation reports following the submission of training evaluations.
