Supports

Supports - Workforce

This resource introduces the the broad principles of trauma informed practice. The implementation is supported via the development of a plan, made by each workshop attendee, to bring a trauma informed lens to their practice and asks them to commit to a follow up meeting where the plan is reviewed.

The animation includes a coaching question and invites reflection in terms of “what can you do to implement the principles”

Two resources support the implementation of this resource – “Sowing seeds: making a plan for trauma informed change” and “Sowing seeds: making a plan for trauma informed change (workshop guidance notes).

Further guidance and support is available via the network of Transforming Psychological Trauma Implementation Coordinators (TPTICs), Trauma Champions and the National Trauma Training Programme (https://transformingpsychologicaltrauma.scot/)

The Animation does not require any facilitation but the accompanying workshop does need facilitation/trainers.

Supports - Technology

This is a web-based animation so learners will require access to the internet and a device on which to view the resource. All resources are available via the link. This includes a pre-recorded video that explains how to deliver the workshop which includes the animation, which is embedded.

Facilitators notes to support facilitation of the workshop by anyone are available through registration process, which is free. No specialist training is required to become a facilitator because facilitator's notes are included to support facilitation of the discussion points.

Supports - Administrative

None required.

Supports - Financial

None required.

Evidence base

This resource, and all the resources in the National Trauma Training Programme are based on the best available evidence base and theoretical models of the impact of trauma and trauma informed practice. TIP is based on evidence that suggests that CYP affected by trauma may be particularly sensitive to reminders of traumatic events, and so taking an approach that explicitly avoids triggers will help them to recover. This particularly focusses on the impact of trauma from a developmental perspective.

Transforming Psychological Trauma: A Knowledge and Skills Framework for the Scottish Workforce (PDF) includes an overview of the evidence base that informed this resource and the rest of the National Trauma Training Programme.
