There are several helpful websites, related to professional groups, that contain professional learning resources for staff to be aware of:

  • TURAS Learn is the NES platform for learning and support resources. It provides NHS Scotland health and social care staff with access to learning and practice support resources produced by NES; however, anyone can access TURAS learn and there is a range of widely useful learning resources available for free. You just need to create a user account by registering here

  • GLOW: Glow offers tools and services to help educators to enrich and enhance learning across the curriculum. You can share teaching materials, design online resources and activities to engage learners and take part in professional learning opportunities.

 

Education Scotland has a wide range of resources and supports hosted on the National Improvement Hub to support staff wellbeing to support learner wellbeing. The ‘Cycle of Wellbeing’ draws together a wide range of frameworks and resources to support staff wellbeing and the wellbeing of children and young people. It demonstrates the synergies of the resources and how they can be used strategically to forward plan supports for staff and learner mental wellbeing based on evidence gathered within a school community.

In addition, the Support for the education workforce | National Improvement Hub has been developed to provide wellbeing supports for the education workforce.

 

SSSC Learning Strategy 2021-2024: The vision is that social service workers feel supported by the SSSC, their employers and others to learn and develop throughout their career and deliver high quality services by taking responsibility for their learning and practice.

The strategy contributes to all the SSSC’s strategic outcomes. The SSSC supports and enhances the development of the regulated workforce to deliver high standards of practice and drive improvement.

Whatever your role and level of experience, we have apps and resources to help you develop your knowledge and skills. These are completely free, and you can work through them at your own pace. The resources are helpfully signposted for:

    • Workers and volunteers
    • Managers, mentors, and coaches
    • Organisational development and trainers

SSSC Learning Zone: SSSC also has a dedicated web space for supporting continuous professional learning (CPL) “The SSSC Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers state that all registered workers must undertake relevant learning to maintain and improve their knowledge and skills and contribute to the learning and development of others” and a refreshed dedicated Newly Qualified Social Worker’s CPL website:

  • General Teaching Council Scotland Health and Wellbeing Hub: GTC Scotland has created and curated a variety of resources and advice to support teacher and lecturer health and wellbeing. Health and Wellbeing is a cross-cutting theme of the Professional Standards and the Professional Values.
