The Digital Learning Map

The Digital Learning Map

This Digital Learning Map builds on the Knowledge and Skills Framework. At the request of stakeholders, NES has led a process to identify, and quality assure, learning resources that deliver on the knowledge and skills set out in the Framework. Our ambition is that the digital learning map will enable staff throughout Scotland (including, but not limited to, NHS, Local Authorities, the Scottish Government, and Integrated Joint Boards as well as 3rd sector organisations) to make fully informed investment decisions about which learning resources to complete.

Aims:

  • Identify high quality mental health and wellbeing learning resources for staff across children’s agencies, available in Scotland, that link to the K&S framework dimensions at the informed, skilled, and enhanced practice levels.
  • Assist organisations and individuals to identify high quality and evidence-based professional learning for workforce development, that is quality assured.

Importantly, this Digital Learning Map sits alongside, and complements, the NES Early Intervention Framework that sets out the evidence-base for early psychological intervention and prevention programmes for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Both the Digital Learning Map and the Early Intervention Framework can be used to inform workforce development plans. Please note, the Digital Learning Map is not a directory of services or agencies offering mental health and wellbeing interventions to children and young people. It is a database of psychologically informed mental health and wellbeing learning resources for staff.

The Digital Learning Map includes links to high quality resources that map onto the knowledge and skills statements in the Framework. Here are some examples of how the Digital Learning Map can help the workforce to answer common questions about workforce development:

What quality assured learning is available for a specific knowledge or skill?

I/my staff member need greater knowledge and skills in emotional containment, what quality assured training or learning resources are available?

Planning training by Practice Level.

I have a group of staff working at the Informed Level, what quality assured training is available for them?

Information about a particular learning resource being considered.

I’m considering rolling out a particular learning resource in my workforce. Which dimensions does it cover, at what Practice Level, and is it quality assured?
